Good wine is one of life’s greatest pleasures, a fine luxury and some days it can feel like an absolute necessity. 

Buying wine doesn’t have to be intimidating and it shouldn’t be boring. The Bottle of Hastings has over 300 wines available from our well-stocked shop and website. 

The Bottle of Hastings is a family owned business, led by James Hickson from The Royal, St Leonards, his partner Gina Hewitt.

We are passionate about sharing recommendations and guidance that can assist all kinds of wine lovers, whether you are a knowledgeable connoisseur, a curious newcomer or somewhere in between, making an excellent range of wines available in an unpretentious and friendly environment. 

As well as expert advice and knowledge to help you choose wine for any occasion The Bottle of Hastings also offers regular tastings hosted by world class sommeliers, the opportunity to enjoy wines by the glass and bottle in our indoor seating area and a home delivery service. 

Our ever evolving wine list features a broad range of producers and titles. Our old friend, wine consultant Ruth Spivey (Wine Car Boot / GQ Sommelier of the Year 2016) has been integral in assembling our opening selection, which is predominantly from western Europe with France, Italy and Spain headlining. The shelves are also peppered with some brilliant bottles from the likes of Germany, Greece and Portugal, plus a handful of our favourite producers from further afield. 

The wines we have chosen to offer are invariably made by smaller, family run vineyards and wineries who have a simultaneous care for the land and environment and quality of the finished product. We have a solid offering of sparkling wine, from grower Champagnes to English fizz alongside pocket friendly Cremant, Prosecco and Pet Nat. Rosé and skin contact haven’t been forgotten, and neither has the ever essential sherry, or Calvados, for that matter.
