Mansois (or Fer Servadou)

Marcillac is a tiny appellation in Aveyron comprising some eight growers, just north west of Montpellier. The wines are made exclusively from the Mansois grape, otherwise known as Fer or Fer Servadou in Gaillac. Lo Sang del Païs (“I bled from the country”) is their ‘basic’ wine - supple with juicy raspberry underpinned by slate and gravel notes. Combining rusticity with finesse, it’s deliciously evocative, with an instant and intriguing appeal.
