Wonderful introduction to the joys of Nebbiolo. Sergio Molino, a respected and successful oenologist is the winemaker, resurrecting his family’s tiny vineyard holding in La Morra (2.5h). He is hands off in the winery, letting the vineyards and fruit shine, only 20% of this sees oak. Firm but fine tannins, nicely forward fruit, fragrance and texture. Langhe may not be as ‘grand’ as Barolo/Barbaresco (also not as costly) but it’s nevertheless an effortlessly elegant and fine bottle with plenty to savour.

Pair with: Chateaubriand, wild mushrooms, ragu
