Do you like rich fruity wine that come with 250 years of history from family owned vineyards?

Then join Alex Bridgeman on Saturday the 9th of December from 7pm till 9pm, where he will show you the wonderful world of fortified wines from Northern Portugal.

Alex is a founder member of The Port Forum (www.theportforum.com), one of the organisers of 'The Big Fortified Tasting' (www.thebft.co.uk) and a Cavaleiro of the Confraria do Vinho do Porto.

Alex will take us through a journey along the Douro River Valley and explain a little about the history of this region. We will look at red Port compared to White Port, youthful compared to mature and bottle aged vs wood aged Port. You will be able to explore your taste and preference and be well prepared for Christmas!

Port is made in a special way that captures more of the fruit flavours than normal table wine. It comes in red, white and pink versions. It can be drunk young when it is exuberantly fruity. Or older when it has acquired concentration and spice.

Alex will take you through a selection of the Ports we will be offering and answer your questions on this fabulous wine.

We will provide delicious cheese and charcuterie to taste along with the Port Wines. A night to indulge and learn about Port.

Friendology Forever

is the motto of Quevedo Wines, a family owned, multi-vineyard, winery business based in the Douro Valley. Established in 1889, for four generations the family sold their grapes and their wines to Taylors, to be made into Taylors Port and sold under the Taylor brand.

In 1993, the family took advantage of a change in regulations and became one of the first of the new wave of independent Port producers, beginning to bottle wines under their own name and to meet the challenge of creating an awareness of the quality and philosophy behind their wines.

Fifth generation family member Cláudia Quevedo is the Port Maker and Master Blender and her brother Óscar runs the marketing and sales side of the business. The family make a full range of Port, with their first Vintage Port from the 2005 harvest and Tawny Ports going back to the 1960s.

Around 15 years ago the family started to make a range of table wines to complement their range of ports.
