 Brancellao is a native Galician variety, nicknamed ‘the pinot noir of Galicia’ by the new wave of local winemakers (e.g. Envínate). Foot-trodden, whole clusters in an open wooden vat, natural yeasts and aged in v old oak to preserve the grape’s subtleties and vivacity. Pale in colour, lifted with acidity and minerality from the slate and schist soils. Clear bouquet with refreshing cranberry leaf, blood orange, black pepper, cherries and tar on the palate.
